Long time, no post…LOL. (Lame, I know)
Hello, it is good to be back to posting. I want to share a couple of goals that I set and share the results.
In my very first video I shared that I wanted to run a race before my birthday at the end of the year. So I worked and trained for the HBCU 5k race that was June 28th. It was very exciting to be out there and see my training and hard work pay off.
My goal was to run 3 miles in 30 minutes and I DID!!!! I actually ran it in under 30 minutes, it was that .6 of a mile that took me to over 30 minutes. lol
It was certainly hard not to give up and stop, especially since people were running faster than myself and others were stopping, but I just kept going, no matter how many hills there were, and there were a lot. At the end of the whole experience, I was very pleased and thankful for that journey.
*Out of over 1,700 people to participate and run the 5k, I finished as number 171, That is top ten percent!
*In my age category, 20-24, and out of over 200 female in that age group, I was the 6 lady to run across the finish line!!!
Soooo…. I’m not done. That same day (June 28th) I was invited to run in the Peachtree Road Race.
I was very honored to participate. As an Atlanta native, and have never ran in the race, I knew that I should take this opportunity. Oh yea, did I mention that the race was the following weekend, July 4th, it was a 10k (6.2 miles) and that I clearly did not have time to train?
Well I was not going to pass up this opportunity.
I ran the race with goals of:
-not stopping
-play better music than in the previous race(I don’t recommend Beyonce radio for running long distances.)
-run the 6.2 miles in one hour
What I did:
-I did not stop, I ran the entire time!!
-I played the Lil Jon radio (That was the best decision ever!)
-I completed My very first Peachtree road race on exactly one hour. ( I started at 9:15am and finished at 10:15 am!!)
I certainly enjoyed both races. It shows that hard work does indeed pay off!!
Do you have a goal/story you want to share?? Leave comments!
From me,
Chrissy
