Work Your Passion

How many times have you received the advice, turn your passion into a paycheck?

We hear it often but sometimes we are still confused on how to apply that concept.

There are a few things that I have learned over the past year, that is to:

-Tell people what you want

-Share what your talents are

-Share what you’re passionate about

-Then prove it!

How will people know if you don’t tell them? It is your job to speak up!

When I lived in D.C last year, I shared with church members my passion for helping people organize their homes.  From a few conversations, I picked up paying clients.  I’ll be honest, if you’re like me and you’re passionate about multiple things, it can get overwhelming.  What I continue to remind myself is that I need to read what season of life  I’m in or what opportunities I can truly take advantage of.

So, while here in Atlanta, I began to find myself back in the fashion industry, another passion of mine.  For years I have worked with models and photographers.  I have been a stylist for multiple shoots, videos and fashion shows.  I made sure to tell people that I was in Atlanta and I was getting back into styling.

I had the opportunity to style Yvette Gavin for a photo shoot.  This was huge for me! Yvette Gavin is the Chief Strategist of Yvette Gavin Consulting.  She is a Speaker, Trainer, Coach and Author. I was surprised when I got the call, but very excited that something I was passionate about was about to turn into a paycheck!

Once you believe in your skills, recognize that it is a passion, then advertise for yourself, I promise others will see the value that you have to bring. It is very possible to turn your passion into a paycheck.
