Learn To Network

How many times have you said that you were going to start networking?  An event comes up and you find every reason not to attend the event, right?

Well, I can relate.  I have always been the type of person that could never attend events alone.  For some reason I just feel awkward standing in a room and literally not knowing anyone.

Well, that whole mindset changed when I moved back to Atlanta.  I didn’t want to come back the same person.  I actually enjoy meeting new people.  So, I decided that this Summer was going to be different.  I attended many networking events and was able to learn so much.

There was one networking event I was really excited to attend.  These fashion forward and life-style bloggers, sisters, Kerri and Cari.  They were hosting a Garden Party! Now, I know you have seen these sisters slaying on your Instagram feed. The event was for bloggers and female entrepreneurs. I asked a few friends but they didn’t want to pay the ticket price. I didn’t have too much time to figure out if I wanted to attend, because there was limited seating and I really wanted to go.

It took me a few days and in that time, I realized that in order for me to be the best me, I can not continue to depend on the company of others for me to live my life.  I believed that this Garden Party would be beneficial, so I decided to purchase a ticket and go!

I want to challenge you to do something out of your comfort zone.  Get out there and network like crazy, even if you are doing it alone.  We can not always depend on others in order for us to make a move.

I am so glad that I decided to attend this event. The panelists* were very informative and encouraging, I learned a lot and was truly able to network with like minded women.  Networking is not always about what you get get from others, but also what information and experience you are able to give out.
